Applied Catalysts is a vertically integrated catalyst technology and manufacturing company supporting the Industrial Air Pollution Control, Chemical Process, and Specialty Catalyst Industries. We are uniquely situated to help our customers succeed.

We maintain two ISO 9001 certified manufacturing, office, and laboratory locations in Doraville, Georgia (USA) and Laurens, South Carolina (USA). Our catalyst development and applications testing laboratory exists to support our customers by developing new products and to supporting our products in the field.

Lee Mitchell

President

Mr. Mitchell joined Applied Catalysts in 1998 as Project Manager of the newly acquired company by Applied Ceramics. He has since held positions of Business Manager, Vice-President, and his current role as President. His strengths include sales, marketing, business strategy, and leadership. Mr. Mitchell came to Applied in 1998 after working in sales and marketing for two years with Champion International, a global pulp & paper manufacturer.

Dr. Robert Gulotty

Technical Manager

Bob holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Chicago and is an expert in Heterogeneous Catalysis. Dr. Gulotty has 13 US Patents and 17 publications. Dr. Gulotty has managed the Applied Catalysts Development Lab in Laurens SC and provided technical leadership for catalyst technology at Applied Catalysts since 2011. His accomplishments include the commercialization of emission control catalysts, custom catalysts and activated carbon monolith catalysts for continuous hydrogenation processes.

Martin Morrill

Vice President Sales & Marketing

Marty holds a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from Stonehill College and a Graduate Degree in Environmental Management from Bentley University. A world renown expert in Air Pollution Control Catalysts, Martin joined Applied Catalysts as their Vice President in July 2016 after 36 years with Prototech>Sud-Chemie>Clariant, where he held management positions in Production, R & D and Sales, most recently as Director of Air Purification in the Americas. Author of 2 Patents, Martin has been a Speaker at several Trade Conferences throughout the world.

Scott Plageman

Business Development Manager

Scott joined Applied Catalysts in 2015 and has responsibility for global sales and marketing efforts for Air Pollution Control markets. Additionally, he has a role in the commercialization of new catalyst technologies in emerging markets. Scott holds a B.S. degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Chemical and Biological Engineering. He also holds a M.B.A. degree from the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Nathan Porter

Director of PCSS

Nathan Porter joined Applied Catalysts in 2022 with a focus on producing customized catalytic reactor systems.  Nathan engineered catalytic reactors for eight years at DuPont before starting his own engineering company to focus on catalytic reactors and chemical separation systems.  Nathan’s goal is to allow client’s focus on their production number by delivering complete reactor systems with customized catalysts.  Nathan holds a B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Georgia Tech.  His graduate degrees are in Business Administration & Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

Our catalyst development, testing, and application laboratories are located at these facilities. We manufacture catalysts at this facility with additional manufacturing capacity available, if necessary. These facilities operate to ISO-9001:2008 standards.
