Carbon Capture Catalysts

CO2 capture is the absorption of CO2 from ambient air (direct capture) or from more concentrated streams from industrial and other combustion processes. Applied Catalysts has developmental monoliths available for testing for CO2 capture applications. We can provide supports that are ready for absorbants to be applied, or monoliths with absorbants applied to your specifications.

We offer our activated carbon monoliths, wash coated cordierite monoliths, and proprietary monoliths on a developmental basis.

01

How Our Clients Benefit from Carbon Capture Technology

Using an activated carbon monolith catalyst for carbon dioxide capture has a number of advantages. First, activated carbon in the monolith can absorb and desorb CO2. Second, activated carbon is a high-capacity support for other base adsorbants, such as alkali or alkaline earth metal carbonates or amine-functionalized polymers.

The ability to engineer the monolith, coating type and process makes Applied Catalysts and Applied Ceramics a unique supplier and development partner.

02

Problems Solved by CO2 Capture Catalysts

As with many industrial processes, cost is king. CO2 capture is a challenge due to additional costs added for any capture process versus no capture scenarios.

It is possible, that the large effort globally identifying monetized applications of the captured CO2 will combine with low-cost CO2 capture to be a sustainable solution.
