ACMC-Pt
ACMC-Pt Overview
The ACMC-Pt catalyst is an activated carbon/ceramic monolith based support impregnated with Pt. The ACMC-Pt monolith catalyst can be used instead of Pt/ carbon catalysts for hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, and other reductive chemistries for fixed bed operations. The advantages may include higher activity, selectivity, and lifetime due to reduced mass transfer resistance and lower attrition. The Platinum loading and promoters are chosen based on the application. One general application of the ACMC-Pt catalysts is to convert current batch catalyst processes requiring catalyst separations to continuous processes. A second motivator can be the need to run chemistry at higher pressures in multi-tubular reactors where exceptional heat removal and higher pressures can be used. Applied Catalysts can provide catalyst samples for your testing, or can run your chemistry or surrogate chemistry in our lab and show tube reactors.
ACMC-Pt Benefits
- The ACMC-Pt catalyst is a robust catalyst offering high activity and selectivity for hydrogenation and other reductive chemistries with low pressure drop and low attrition
- The ACMC-Pt catalyst is not pyrophoric
- The ACMC-Pt catalyst is active for hydrogenation and reductive chemistries with little to no activation
- ACMC based catalysts offer better heat removal and easier catalyst replacement in change-overs compared to particulate catalysts
Applications & Use Cases
The ACMC-Pt catalyst is useful for many types of hydrogenations, including:
- vegetable oils
- animal fats
- nitrobenzene to aniline
- reductive alkylation
- and many other reductive chemistries
